Why I haven't been quilting, but that's changing now.

We adopted a new puppy a year ago, and I've been pretty focused on getting her trained. Meet Stitch!
This was her when we first adopted her. (Daughter is hiding behind.)
She loves to ride in the car...
And play in her pool. This is Stitch's Grotto, an area that's a work in progress, too.
When Stitch was 8 months old, she got diagnosed with elbow dysplasia.  She had her first surgery to fix it on June 1st this year.
(The day she came home from the hospital.)
But she's healing, though keeping a busy puppy quiet so she can heal is no small task.
Isn't she a cutie?  We'll be scheduling her next surgery pretty soon, and once she's healed up, she'll be back to playing in her pool!
I'll talk about what quilting I've been doing in my next post. But I'm back at it. 😀

Bad Ass Quilter's Society Challenge

April saw the completion of my certificate program for my Professional Life.  As I was nearing completion, I had taken a break and was browsing Facebook, when I saw that Maddie Kertay had posted the Black and White Skully Challenge.  My immediate response?

I ordered the six fat quarters of Skully fabrics that were required to show on the top of the quilt, as well as the companion fat quarters, and passed my last final as I waited for the fabric to arrive.  The timing was perfect.  I decided to make a wall hanging for my daughter, and quickly got to work fussy-cutting the Skully's.  The result: "Skully's in da House"

I had a lot of fun putting this together.  I decided to do trapunto behind the skulls to make them stand out a bit more, and feather quilting in the log cabin blocks.  Here are some fun close-ups of the Skully center trapunto blocks:

This quilt has a lot of texture.  It's hard to see it all from the front, but easy to see on the back:

Anyway, I hope you like it.  My daughter is thrilled.  Thanks for looking!

This is a test post.

I'm testing my ability to actually post something on a blog.  The photo is the quilt I made for the Iron Quilter II challenge that had been sponsored by the Missouri Star Quilt Company and RJR fabrics a couple of years ago.  The fabrics are "Lovely" and I designed, pieced and quilted this quilt myself.
